I think we’ve established quite firmly we here at Storied Threads are book lovers, and we know a lot of our fans are too. This week’s design is for you.

The Bibliophile’s Bookcase depicts five classic novels sitting on a shelf waiting to be read (or perhaps re-read): Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Little Women, Sense and Sensibility, and Silas Marner. We plan to roll out quite a few variations on this patch — we already have a classic science fiction version ready to test-run — so eventually you’ll be able to choose from a wide variety of pre-fab patches.

BUT WAIT! If you’d like a patch that reflects your particular tastes, we can customize this patch to your liking! Just order the patch and tell us which five book titles you’d like to see and we’ll make it for you.

The basic patch is $11. A custom version using your five titles is $16.

You can also grab this design (stock version only) at our Redbubble shop.

51e2x4ohsbl-_sy346_Welcome to the latest installment of our ongoing series, Sharing the Love. There are a lot of small and independent artists out there working in all sorts of mediums — writers, painters, jewelry makers, leather crafters, actors…this list could go on and on. And it turns out, I know and admire an awful lot of them!

It feels a little weird and self-serving to be writing this post about my own husband, but he has a new book coming out at the end of this month, and I couldn’t think of a better time to feature him in this space!

Michael Bailey is the author of the Action Figures series of YA books, and also The Adventures of Strongarm and Lightfoot, a tongue-in-cheek humorous fantasy series.

Action Figures currently has 5 books published, focusing on Carrie Hauser, a young superhero struggling to balance friendships, saving the world, and getting her homework turned in on time. The stories have a great deal of heart to them, and it’s easy to get wrapped up in the lives of Carrie and her friends. Book six in this series, Power Play, is scheduled to be published this spring.

51288dlmvhlStrongarm and Lightfoot, however, is the real reason I wanted to focus on Mike’s books today, as the second book in this series is scheduled to be released later this month! Assassin’s Brawl continues the adventures of Derek Strongarm and Felix Lightfoot and their friends. While the first book focused on epic world-threatening prophecies, the second book in the series brings our heroes into the world of political intrigue without losing their sense of adventure or fun.

If you haven’t yet had a chance to try these books, the first Strongarm and Lightfoot book, Scratching a Lich, will be available in Kindle format for free from September 19 through 23, which is a great way to give a new author a try. And if you’re already a fan, then you just get to look forward to the September 27 release of Assassin’s Brawl!

The hallway of storefronts at Mill No. 5

What: Meet the Artist
When: February 26, 2016, 6:30 PM
Where: Mill No. 5, Lowell, MA

Okay, technically this isn’t a show in the usual sense. My author husband, Michael Bailey, and I have been invited to do a “meet the artist” event at Mill No. 5 later this month, which sounds like it will be a very fun event! The Mill is where the OtherWhere Market is held a couple of times a year, and we love the location, which has a great Diagon Alley kind of feel to it, full of eclectic little stores.

Our event will be held in the Victorian Lounge, where I will have a small display of select Storied Threads products. I’ll have all my patches with me, although you’ll have to flip through bins like they were records in a vintage record store for them, as well as a selection of bags and scarves. And Mike will be there selling copies of both his Action Figures books (including, if all goes well, the new Issue 5!) as well as Strongarm and Lightfoot: Scratching a Lich.

Also, I hear there will be snacks! And maybe music? There might be music. And definitely hanging out and talking — this will be more than just a shopping event, it will also be a “come hang out and get nerdy with Mike and Veronica” event. It promises to be a really fun time!

No Harm Ever CameBoth a quote from 1999’s “The Mummy” (one of my all time favorite movies) and also just good advice in general. Even if it didn’t work out so well for Evy Carnahan.

This patch shows the outline and scarab detail of the lock from Imhotep’s sarcophagus and the Book of the Dead, stitched in gold thread on khaki cotton canvas, and Evelyn’s ironic statement is stitched over the top in dark brown.

This sew-on patch measure 3″ in diameter.
